Black Gold

Inspired by my great grandfather being a young miner in Wales in the 1900's, this collection and accompanying brand takes inspiration from the mines. 'Canari', meaning Canary in Welsh, is a nod to the Canary Bird which was a vital part of survival in the mines. The brand marries together heritage and sustainability, to give a modern twist on old school workwear and tailoring. This collection celebrates a collection of new manufacturing methods, such as a upcycling and reworking old clothing and using surplus fabrics from factories that would otherwise be unused. The use of upcycled materials are integrated within the line, for example, the use of old coffee sacks that have been coated in silicone to implement an element of rough sophistication.
